Dr. Teresa Paine is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has been in private practice for 40 years providing Marriage, Family and Individual Counseling for adults and children. She specializes in providing non-medication alternatives for people who want to avoid the use of psychiatric drugs for themselves or their children.
She has received extensive training in Neurofeedback, a brain training technique that is extremely effective in relieving psychological symptoms and has provided Neurofeedback to her clients for more than 20 years. She also provides a number of other extremely effective alternative techniques for symptom relief that are powerful additions to the psychotherapy services she offers.
Dr. Paine received her Master's degree in Counseling from West Virginia University and her Ph.D. from Virginia Tech with a Faculty Fellowship in Marriage and Family Therapy at Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She has taught Marriage and Family Counseling as an adjunct professor for Marshall University Graduate College and has taught and supervised mental health counselors in the public school system and in public and private agencies in southwest Virginia and southern West Virginia.
She has presented numerous workshops and radio and presentations on Neurofeedback, stress management, anger management, and other self-management and holistic healing practices. She presented a paper on Neurofeedback at the American Biologics International Conference on Environmental Medicine in Salzburg, Austria.
Dr. Paine is certified in Neurofeedback by the BioFeedback Certification International Alliance, a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the American Association of Marriage, and Family Therapy. She is the past president and current member of the West Virginia Licensed Professional Counselors Association.
Dr. Paine has completed Level 3 Practicum Training in the researched-based Gottman Method Couples
Therapy Approach.
